In collaboration with the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Deaf Initiatives is pleased to host our newest initiative, "Independence IS Your Future" . This one-of-a-kind workshop is open to students in grades 7-10, who are deaf or hard of hearing, and their parents or guardian. Join us to learn more about the following key topics:
- Importance of Reading
- Parental Involvement in their Student’s Academic Achievement
- Importance of Good Study Habits
- Parent and Student Collaboration in the IEP Process
- Why go to College
- Importance of Writing
- Independent Living Skills
- Financial Literacy
- Tips for Success and Survival in the Classroom
The workshop is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 10 from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm. The workshop will be held at Ashland, Inc. in northwest Columbus. Registration is only $20 per family. Lunch and materials are included in this fee. Upon arrival, each family will receive a $20 gas gift card.
